The machine directs highly pressurized water at the material through a ruby or diamond-encrusted opening. The pressurized water is directed through a small nozzle, creating a vacuum in which an abrasive substance like garnet is drawn into and mixed with the jet stream. This stream is then expelled at high speeds through the mixing tube/nozzle, grinding its way through virtually any material.
