GRP Pipe Characteristics 

  • Corrosion resistance: Corrosion resistance to both inside and outside corrosion. As a result, additional linings and exterior coatings are not required. Fibreglass composites outperform CS and SS in terms of strength per unit weight.
  • Lightweight: Fiberglass piping weighs 10% less than comparable concrete products and 1/6 the weight of steel products.
  • Electrical properties: Fiberglass pipes are nonconductive by nature. Some manufacturers provide conductive fibreglass piping systems to transport fluids such as jet fuel.
  • Dimensional stability: Fiberglass meets the most stringent material stiffness, dimensional tolerance, weight, and cost requirements.
  • Low maintenance costs: Fiberglass piping is simple to maintain because it does not rust, is easily cleaned and requires little environmental protection.

Chlorinated polyester (Tg = 110 deg C)-similar properties to Bisphenol A polyester, but with inherent fire retardant properties. Adding antimony oxide particles to the resin mix can improve this property.
